This\nfunction called filp_open(), following which these functions were called\n(in reverse order), according to the call trace:\n\n down_read\n __configfs_open_file\n do_dentry_open\n vfs_open\n do_open\n path_openat\n do_filp_open\n file_open_name\n filp_open\n target_core_item_dbroot_store\n flush_write_buffer\n configfs_write_iter\n\ntarget_core_item_dbroot_store() tries to validate the new file path by\ntrying to open the file path provided to it; however, in this case, the bug\nreport shows:\n\ndb_root: not a directory: /sys/kernel/config/target/dbroot\n\nindicating that the same configfs file was tried to be opened, on which it\nis currently working on. Thus, it is trying to acquire frag_sem semaphore\nof the same file of which it already holds the semaphore obtained in\nflush_write_buffer(), leading to acquiring the semaphore in a nested manner\nand a possibility of recursive locking.\n\nFix this by modifying target_core_item_dbroot_store() to use kern_path()\ninstead of filp_open() to avoid opening the file using filesystem-specific\nfunction __configfs_open_file(), and further modifying it to make this fix\ncompatible."},{"lang":"es","value":"En el kernel de Linux, la siguiente vulnerabilidad ha sido resuelta:\n\nscsi: target: Corrección de bloqueo recursivo en __configfs_open_file()\n\nEn flush_write_buffer, se adquiere &p->frag_sem y luego se llama a la función de almacenamiento cargada, que, aquí, es target_core_item_dbroot_store(). Esta función llamó a filp_open(), tras lo cual se llamaron a estas funciones (en orden inverso), según el rastro de llamadas:\n\n down_read\n __configfs_open_file\n do_dentry_open\n vfs_open\n do_open\n path_openat\n do_filp_open\n file_open_name\n filp_open\n target_core_item_dbroot_store\n flush_write_buffer\n configfs_write_iter\n\ntarget_core_item_dbroot_store() intenta validar la nueva ruta de archivo intentando abrir la ruta de archivo que se le proporcionó; sin embargo, en este caso, el informe de error muestra:\n\ndb_root: not a directory: /sys/kernel/config/target/dbroot\n\nindicando que se intentó abrir el mismo archivo configfs, en el que está trabajando actualmente. Así, está intentando adquirir el semáforo frag_sem del mismo archivo del que ya posee el semáforo obtenido en flush_write_buffer(), lo que lleva a adquirir el semáforo de forma anidada y una posibilidad de bloqueo recursivo.\n\nSolucione esto modificando target_core_item_dbroot_store() para usar kern_path() en lugar de filp_open() para evitar abrir el archivo usando la función específica del sistema de archivos __configfs_open_file(), y modificándolo aún más para hacer que esta corrección sea compatible."}],"metrics":{"cvssMetricV31":[{"source":"nvd@nist.gov","type":"Primary","cvssData":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","baseScore":5.5,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","attackVector":"LOCAL","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"LOW","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"NONE","integrityImpact":"NONE","availabilityImpact":"HIGH"},"exploitabilityScore":1.8,"impactScore":3.6}]},"weaknesses":[{"source":"nvd@nist.gov","type":"Primary","description":[{"lang":"en","value":"CWE-674"}]}],"configurations":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.9.201","versionEndExcluding":"4.10","matchCriteriaId":"98FE002B-FFEB-420A-9E67-5E04854D1169"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14.154","versionEndExcluding":"4.15","matchCriteriaId":"344FEFB4-E393-4E04-905A-4734AC267EC1"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19.84","versionEndExcluding":"4.20","matchCriteriaId":"B7EACEB9-7173-47F4-83A4-AE06CE74D78B"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.3.1","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.167","matchCriteriaId":"761FF490-ED98-4C4D-998C-6CFBB8D2B911"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.2","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.130","matchCriteriaId":"C57BB918-DF28-46B3-94F7-144176841267"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.7","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.77","matchCriteriaId":"B3D12E00-E42D-4056-B354-BAD4903C03A5"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.13","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.17","matchCriteriaId":"A5E006E4-59C7-43C1-9231-62A72219F2BA"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.19.7","matchCriteriaId":"69245D10-0B71-485E-80C3-A64F077004D3"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:5.3:-:*:*:*:*:*:*","matchCriteriaId":"D036D76E-AC69-4382-B4C1-8EDA1ABB2941"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:5.3:rc8:*:*:*:*:*:*","matchCriteriaId":"999345BA-F820-40B9-A711-32CA9265C289"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:7.0:rc1:*:*:*:*:*:*","matchCriteriaId":"F253B622-8837-4245-BCE5-A7BF8FC76A16"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:7.0:rc2:*:*:*:*:*:*","matchCriteriaId":"4AE85AD8-4641-4E7C-A2F4-305E2CD9EE64"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/142eacb50fb903a4c10dee7e67b6e79ebb36a582","source":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","tags":["Patch"]},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/14d4ac19d1895397532eec407433c5d74d9da53b","source":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","tags":["Patch"]},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3161ef61f121d4573cad5b57c92188dcd9b284b3","source":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","tags":["Patch"]},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4fcfa424a581d823cb1a9676e3eefe6ca17e453a","source":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","tags":["Patch"]},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9a5641024fbfd9b24fe65984ad85fea10a3ae438","source":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","tags":["Patch"]},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e8ef82cb6443d5f3260b1b830e17f03dda4229ea","source":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","tags":["Patch"]}]}}]}
